Hi, I have an on premise Exchange 2013 server, Mailbox and Client Access. I am looking to install a second server (MB and CA) in our Co-Lo datacentre. The idea would be to hold a passive copy of the DB and also have a backup MX record point to this site, so It will handle email. I can then just make the server active if I ever lost my primary site/server.
Firstly, will installing this in a production environment cause issues?
How will client access be handled, I initially thought all clients would just still connect to the Primary box, but would this now spread out to either server, with the DR site acting as a proxy?
Would you recommend having a separate replication network?
Any other advice on the way to set this up?
