I am sure this is a bit of a odd question..
but--- I have Exchange 2010 running on a server 2012 standard machine. It is running a domain at a location that no longer needs any of its functionality and I would like to move the mailboxes/public folders to a different server.
I have another server running 2012 Standard with Exchange 2013 installed.
It is at a completely different site, different domain, different forest. Everything is different. these two machines are completely isolated from each other.
What I am wondering is can I take a backup of everything on the Exchange 2010 machine and restore to the 2013 machine so that my pop/imap/owa clients can just point to this server.
Nothing else would be done on this server. These users just need to be able to connect, but no active directory integration etc.
Keep in mind these machines have nothing in common. Different domains, forests, organizations etc.
Thanks
