I'm working out the details for a proposed server upgrade at our orgnisation. We're not big part luckily we get charity Pricing on MS products. I'm hoping this will allow us to provide a system with high fault tolerance (something important in our area) at a lower cost. The load will be minimal for Exchange (around 70-80 mailboxes initially).

I want to setup an Exchange 2013 on both our primary Virtual Host and our DR Virtual Host both as part of a DAG. I've been advised though I will need a seperate Client Access Server infrastructure. From my understanding 2013 doesn't have this requirement and can run both the CAS and DAG side on the same server.

Can someone please advise on this, or advise the best way to implement this while keeping simple as possible and providing continuity in case of primary Virtual Host failing.

Running Migration batches causes failures due to high RQL & CQL on Passive copies 

But the passive copy servers are 100% on CPU due to "Microsoft Sharepoint Search Component" there for the servers are in a HUNG state.

I can try the below work around but that still does not solve the initial HANG due to HIGH CPU.

i have created 2 dc`s with both containing 2 all in one servers.

Servers in DC1 are both in the dag but when i add a server from DC2 to the dag it wont join.  i can see the server is being added to the cluster, and than afther some time it is being evicted from the cluster again because of network connectivity.

Seen i run on VMWare i moved the server from DC 2 to DC 1 .  If i join it now to the DAG it works. So windows config is no issue the problem is in the network.

To excluded issues with the replication network i assigned all the replication networks on the same switch bypassing the routers. All ping fine.

I retested jioning the DAG , Still fails with same errors. ?? So it must be the mapi network throwing the error.

DC1 - Mapi network uses 10.100.100.* subnet 255.255.255.0

DC2 - mapi network uses 10.100.200.* subnet 255.255.255.0

Cluster IP is on DC 1 mapi network 10.100.100.50.

How do you config this mapi network correct, when i add the second subnet to the cluster it keeps saying missconfigured but the technet artikel says this is the way to configure it ????

I've build two Exchange 2013 server environment CAS and Mbx -roles with both server. Building DAG went Ok and it looks like cluster is working underneeth. But, doing failover by Activating another copy of database, the first one goes Failed-mode. Manual suspend and seeding will have to be done to get it to healthy state again. I have tested a few powershell commands and checked network configurations, they seem to be correct as well. To clarify scenario, the activated one will start working fine after failover, so to be passive one failes.

Interesting is that when creating new database, it failsover fine one or two times without problems, but after some time that one too starts the same behavior described earlier. Event Ids don't tell much, something about replication, that has not lead anywhere so far (I can post the event id later).

Any ideas?  

Servers are build on Vmware. Replication network is build with IPs on same subnet, and there is a separated from Mapi network (which work fine for clients).

I have an Exchange DAG with 2 mailbox servers (in my environment, there's 2 CAS Servers too), but my problem with is DAG..
When I have a database mounted in server 02 and health in server 01... if server 01 goes down the Outlook stay normally.
When I have a database mounted in server 01 and health in server 02... if server 01 goes down the database is mounted in server 02 normally but the Outlook presentation "Trying to connect" (OWA stay normally).

Someone knows something about?

I have an Exchange Server 2013 box named EXCHANGE1 running on Windows Server 2012. The server has 4 mailbox databses named DB1, DB2, DB3, and DB4. I recently added another server named EXCHANGE2 running on another server running Windows Server 2012. I created a new DAG and added EXCHANGE1 and EXCHANGE2 as members. I then created database copies of DB1, DB2, DB3, and DB4 from EXCHANGE1 on EXCHANGE2. 

However now my users are getting prompted for login and they appear to be connecting to EXCHANGE2 frequently? How can I make sure EXCHANGE2 is passive and users are all on EXCHANGE1?

I have 4 exchange server 2010 SP2 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 in difference physical server.

all 4 exchange server is multi-role (HUB, CAS, MAILBOX) and configure as DAG.

I have exchange server named: exchange01, exchange02, exchange03, and exchange04.

I have 16 databases, 4 database active on each server, all database store on Dell storage.

I have a good Windows Image Backup of each servers. So I want to recover Windows Image to new physical server because I don't want to reconfigure any custom settings that were previously present on the server.

I'm planning to prepare the DR system if any member of DAG are hardware failure.

Do you have any idea?

I have two Exchange 2013 servers, built up in parallel to make sure all features and updates were applied to keep them consistent.  I installed Exchange 2013 successfully on both servers.  I am able to create mailboxes for each of the default mailbox stores and send and receive email within the new Exchange 2013 environment and across to our Exchange 2007 environment that we are currently running.

I wanted to next create a DAG to start setting up the HA environment.  I created the DAG fine and have a Windows Server 2012 member server (not running Exchange) acting as the witness server.  I have made sure the witness server is a member of Exchange Trusted Subsystem and Exchange Servers AD groups and added them both to the local administrators group on the witness server.  When I created the DAG there were no errors.

When I try to add the first  of our two servers to the DAG I get the following error...

I have tried restarting the server, reinstalling Exchange (without reinstalling Windows), and applying the cumulative update 1 and nothing has helped sort this issue out.

When I tried to add the second Exchange server in our environment, it added just fine.

Both systems are configured with Windows Server 2012 teamed NIC's for the LAN side and a single dedicated NIC for the replication network side.  All IP addresses are configured correctly from what I can tell, and I have verified the configuration multiple times based on see that part of the error indicatong that it could be from incorrectly configured static addresses.

Searching the error online hasn't resulted in anything that has solved the issue and I haven't seen any postings for "CreateCluster() failed with 0x64e Error: Product is uninstalled".  I find that part concerning since I don't believe anything has actually been uninstalled.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I go from here?  I am tempted to blow away Windows and reinstall it again but I am hoping to not have to do that.

All Microsoft Exchange services are running. When i disable the networkcard of Node2 the ECP en Outlook hangs. It seems the failover is not working. Do i need a NLB?

Looking to deploy the following Exchange 2013 environment within the AWS platform. The solution will be deployed within a VPC.

2 x Exchange 2013 Mailbox Servers 

2 x Exchange CAS servers

Within AWS will the standard AWS ELB provide the necessary load balancing requirements ?

If not then which virtual load balancing solution would you recommend ?

If I decide to go with one CAS Server -- Do I need an ELB or can I just assign the CAS Server a public IP address for external traffic and a private IP address for internal traffic ?

If the above solution works , then could I do this 

Create 2 X CAS servers ,power off the second CAS server and in the event of a failure of an AZ, restart the second CAS Server and attach the EIP to this server?
